ITL Circuits Completes Isola's Certification Program
June 19, 2015 | Globe NewswireEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Isola Group, a market leader in copper-clad laminates and dielectric prepreg materials used to fabricate advanced multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs), today announced that ITL Circuits has completed Isola's Certification Program. Isola's technical services team audited ITL to confirm that its manufacturing operations conform to the standards established in IPC-A-600, "Acceptability of Printed Boards" and to IPC-6012, "Qualification and Performance Specification for Rigid Printed Boards." These IPC standards set forth the criteria for PCB workmanship, providing comprehensive acceptance criteria for all types of surface and internal conditions of PCBs. The Isola Certification Program recognizes that ITL is now qualified to build high-layer count PCBs using Isola's I-Speed materials.
Fred Hickman, Senior Director of High Speed Digital Products at Isola stated, "ITL's qualification on I-Speed materials is a win-win for both companies. I-Speed is a uniquely positioned high-speed digital product that has excellent electrical and thermal properties. It has also shown best in class performance on a variety of different CAF coupons. I-Speed materials are priced very competitively in the mid-to-low loss market space. I-Speed IS, a low-Dk glass version of the material, is available for OEMs needing additional improvements in insertion loss and skew mitigation for higher data-rate applications."
As a benefit of Isola's Certification, ITL will receive direct factory support, product training and immediate access to Isola's entire product line. As Isola introduces new materials to support emerging markets and applications, OEMs may require additional technical support to migrate to these new materials. OEMs can rely on the credibility and expertise of certified PCB fabricators, such as ITL, to assist with the migration to new materials.
George Papas, Engineering Manager at ITL Circuits states, "The certification will allow us to expand our raw material selection in the high-speed digital market. We look forward to using this material."

Trouble in Your Tank: Supporting IC Substrates and Advanced Packaging, Part 5
03/19/2024 | Michael Carano -- Column: Trouble in Your TankDirect metallization systems based on conductive graphite or carbon dispersion are quickly gaining acceptance worldwide. Indeed, the environmental and productivity gains one can achieve with these processes are outstanding. In today’s highly competitive and litigious environment, direct metallization reduces costs associated with compliance, waste treatment, and legal issues related to chemical exposure. What makes these processes leaders in the direct metallization space?

The Chemical Connection: Getting to Know Your Vendor
02/16/2024 | Don Ball -- Column: The Chemical ConnectionAfter working for a capital equipment supplier for almost 50 years, I’ve found that the most important part of getting to know your vendor is good communication among all parties. While contact between fabricators of a constantly changing product line and the designers of those products may occur daily or weekly, conversations between you and your equipment supplier may be years apart. That lengthy gap often means that previous contacts may have been promoted, retired, or moved on to other opportunities. You may have also migrated to a new supplier with whom you have little or no history. In either case, you will be interacting with someone you are unfamiliar with (as they are with you). Therefore, it is essential for both sides to communicate clearly so expectations will align.
